It's Anniversay Day!!

Aurora Borealis, the colored lights seen in th...Image by Beverly & Pack via Flickr

I'll take a break from writing about my raw food journey for today......

This month has just flown by!! I have a much quieter week ahead of me but for today I'm excited to be celebrating our 4th wedding anniversary. We were married at about 7:45 pm AK time, on the 21st. The shortest day of the year. This marks a huge turning point for anyone living in the far north. There is such promise with the return of the light. Where many count the days to Christmas, I count the days til Spring!!

My time in Alaska was wonderful. I enjoyed the long days of summer and the beautiful sight of the Northern Lights! I miss the lights! Even if we could see them here in Ottawa they would not be the same. Gone are the nights when I would stand outside in the bitter cold starring straight up at the night sky watching the curtains of colour dance across the sky. Perhaps another trip is in my future. The Aurora Borealis calls to me.

As for today? I'm off to share a wonderful afternoon and evening with Nick. The pool and movie sounds good. A nice long soak in the hot tub perhaps!

Enjoy your celebrations as this week moves closer to Christmas! I know I will.

Our Thanksgiving Dinner

Posted by Picasa

This was our Thanksgiving Dinner today.

A bed of spinach, mashed potatoes and faux turkey.

Both recipes can be found here !!

Both were very tasty...even to my meat eatin' husband. Definitely more than enough food for the 2 of us. I'm saving some for Christmas dinner!

There are so many things in our lives to be thankful for. By eating well balanced and good for me foods I am choosing to honor all that has been given to me.

Enjoy all the blessings of your day of giving thanks!

With love,

Moving forward.....

Looks like I've used this title before. LOL At least I'm consistent!

Here's my latest post at The Raw Divas

I'm going to be a regular Diva posting there each Monday. Let me know what you think.

Had a full day today.

It's Day 2 of my current Body Enlightenment System program.
Body Enlightenment System - Don't Lose Weight Only to Find it Again

I've been really clean with my food today and absolutely love the way I feel. My mind is clearer and I am much more creative! Who knew?! I am determined to be an ambassador for the BES and prove that it works! First 30 day program I did end of September I lost 11 pounds. Felt great! Now moving forward to the next 10 pounds released for good! I can do this!

Took some special time for me today and worked 1 hour with a personal trainer at The Brookstreet Hotel's gym called FLEX. Super special place and an amazing trainer. She makes me feel like I really can do this! I'll keep you all posted as to my progress.

Enjoy your week!

Something fun!

I spend time on Sundays surfing the web looking for interesting and fun Raw Food Ideas.

I ran across Kristen's Raw today and thought this e-book looked inviting.

It's called Kristen Suzanne's EASY Raw Dehydrating

Don't the pancakes look yummy? I think so too.

If you have some great recipes to share with me please let me know. Do you have a favorite raw dessert recipe? I'd love to hear from you!

A new week!

don't you fallImage by [ r ♥ c e y t ♥ y ] {I br♥ke for bokeh} via Flickr

Don't you just love starting over? Well that's what Mondays are for me. A chance to start over! And gee, we get a new one each week. LOL

Just finished a wonderful chat with Angelina Elliot. You can check out her Blog HERE !! I have many new and great friends in the Raw Community. I count Angelina among the best! She has written a number of recipe books that are available through The Raw Divas. Please do let Angela know what you think of her Blog and recipes.

The Body Enlightenment System kicks off today with the beginning of our prep week. Watch in the coming months for the program to be re-released all new and shiny!

Any questions? Please do let me know!

Here's what I'm reading right now: Vastu Living by Kathleen Cox

This book encompasses many areas of Vedic living including Ayurveda and Diet. Definitely curious as to how that is reflected in my life and what I eat as I continue on my Raw Journey.

If you have thoughts or knowledge about Ayurveda please do leave a comment.

Currently I'd say I'm about 50% raw which is down from where I've been. I'm gaining weight. Period. Many, many reasons why. I'm definitely a huge emotional eater. I'll leave it at that for now.

For now...til again

100 days til Dec 1st!

backyard swimming poolImage via Wikipedia

Someone in a live online chat tonight mentioned that it's 100 day's until December 1st! How amazing is that? We're here trying to make the very best of the waning summer sun and already starting to think about the winter time holiday. Go figure! lol

I'm always looking ahead to the Christmas concerts and services. Not really unusal for a church musician. lol

I was wondering about how I could mark the days so here's goes. One more challenge to keep me focused and on track!

100 days of exercise...at least 30 min. So, I commit to doing some sort of exercise each and every day for the next 100!!

Today is day #1! I swam and played in the pool for over half an hour. Great upper and lower body workout for me. Don't get too excited. The picture here is not of my pool. I'll post a recent one in a day or so.

Off to find my pillow and a good night's sleep. I need to be ready to get my exercise in tomorrow. Right?!

Moving forward...

Well friends this is not something I normally do but here I go anyway.

The previous post was of a beautiful baby alpaca shawl that I spent time creating this spring and summer. I've decided to offer it for auction/sale on Ebay. Click here to check it out and possibly offer a bid!

I didn't realize how nice the shawl was until I draped it across my shoulders and felt the fabric on my back. (yes, that's me in the picture lol)

Off to do some spinning and more knitting.

What I did this summer

an AlpacaImage via Wikipedia

I am so happy to have finished this special shawl! I can't remember how many times I started, stopped and tried again until I got just the right pattern. Lace knitting is so beautiful but definitely trying at times. The yarn is a baby alpaca and feels wonderfully soft. Fun, isn't it? lol

Right on track!

Spinning wool on a great wheel at a demonstrat...Image via Wikipedia

Quick post to let you know I'm right on track with the Tour de Fleece! I've only missed one day of spinning since this challenge started. Also, since my foot continues to heal (finally, pun intended) I'm able to use my spinning wheel.

Not to self: when skeining my yarn try to note whether it was wheel or spindle spun and if on the spindle which one. At least that way I'd have a better chance of recreating the yarn when needed. lol

Off to find my pillow and some sweet dreams tonight.!

Mango and smoothie coming up for breakfast in about 8 hours.

Le Tour de Fleece

Tour <span class=de France" style="border: medium none ; display: block;" width="193" height="193">Image via Wikipedia

Le Tour de Fleece

It's been a long time since I joined a fiber challenge but with having the month of July to myself I figured it would be fun.

My challenge to spin every day from July 4th to July 26th. I have lots and lots of fiber to spin.

Due to my foot injury and it's slow healing process, much of the spinning will be done with a spindle. Not a bad thing really. I enjoy my spindles.

Currently I'm working on a fleece to shawl project. The fleece is a grey/black icelandic that I purchased from a local farm a year ago. I'm doing a navajo ply then dying it with a red food colouring. So far it's looking pretty good. The pattern is Cold Mountain. Their picture show's this in lace weight but mine will be a bit heavier than that.

I'll let you know how I make out. Pictures to follow.

Following down my Diva path....

The Cozy Coaches, of The Raw Divas, have been working together since last December and are really excited to be presenting a new recipe book very, very soon. Details to follow!!

I'm doing well making sure that I take in more greens and more fresh fruit and veggies. This is always a bit of a struggle for me since I truly am a fan of all breads! lol I'm looking forward to the upcoming Body Enlightenment System that will start mid July. Click the banner at the top of my blog for more info. One of the benefits is that once you purchase the program you have it for life and are always invited back, free, for the live events. This July marks my first year anniversary with the BES! I am excited!!

For today I'm looking forward to getting into the pool but with the current rain it's not overly inviting.

Off to plan my afternoon and evening. Perhaps I need to wash some more fleece to prep for spinning! lol

Calm, cool and collected!

Google Maps HybridImage by Telendro via Flickr

That's my mantra for the day. I'm sitting in my hotel room in Laval attempting to relax before dressing for the big gig tonight! Is it working? Slightly...I think.

I am calm. (working on this one)

I am cool. (air conditioning is working well)

I am collected. (all is ready to go)

Now, if yahoo and google maps could just give me the same results when I do a search of the venues I would be so very happy. Even my Blackberry gives me a different route. What's a gal to do?!

So I sit here, working on french lyrics and diction for tonight. I love playing for the choir and am honored that I am given the opportunity to also sing with them. So much fun!

The venue tonight is a local church. I'm looking forward to it as many churches have amazing accoustics.

As for Laval, haven't seen too much other than a few blocks from the hotel. We visited a wonderful grocery/bakery during lunch today where I was able to get a bag of ripe plums and are so sweet and juicy. Yummy!

I can see Mont Royal from our 7th story window. Not sure but we might venture into the city (Montreal) later tomorrow before heading for home. I figure it's been about 20 years since I've even been this close. Gee if I could wait until Tuesday I could go and see Stevie Wonder!! Montreal is a great place to be!!!

Well off to make myself beautiful for tonight!

Are you doing anything exciting this weekend?

Summer is Comin' In!

Yellow-billed Cuckoo (Coccyzus americanus)Image via Wikipedia

Loudly sing Cuckoo!

Well depending on your neighbours possibly not too loudly! lol

June is definitely one of my favorite months. Not just because it's my birthday month but because of the great weather and the promise of summer. I absolutely love the water and wait for the pool to warm up to about 66F before I jump in. This week it's been sitting at 70F and so refreshing to swim laps. Much warmer than that and it's nice but...not as refreshing!

My food plan for this week is fairly simple; at least for me. I'm working on about 70% raw right now and it feels good for me. Isn't that what the whole diet and food process is all about? For me it's about balance and finding something that I really can stay with over the long haul. My staple right now is watermelon! The melons right now, although not yet local, are really sweet and wonderful. My only problem is being sure that I don't eat any after the dinner hour. All that water needs to go somewhere, right? I really do prefer sleeping through the night. lol

Off to plan my day. Make yours wonderful! I know mine will be.
